Are you a zombie? The Dolores Chamber of Commerce invites the community to its annual chamber banquet. The Cortez Police Department Fall Citizens Academy begins Wednesday, October 15th, and the Hospice of Montezuma will host two free seminars in October. You are watching the local News Roundup, brought to you by the Lore Foundation and Choice Building Supply. I am Sadie Smith. The Dolores Chamber of Commerce will host a night of community celebration and recognition at the Dolores Chamber Banquet on Saturday, October 18th at the Dolores Community Center. Doors will open at 5:30 PM with dinner by Mona makes served at 6:30 PM This year's banquet theme is zombies and attendees are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. The Chamber will award citizen of the year, business of the Year, best customer service and best restaurant. The event also will include silent and live auctions, a cash bar and a dance party event proceeds support Dolores students scholarships. For tickets and details, visit the Dolores Chamber of Commerce website. Registration is open for the Cortez Police Department, falls Citizens Academy. This free six week program runs every Wednesday from six to 8:00 PM October 15th through November 19th at the Cortez Police Department. Participants will learn about drone and bike patrol programs. Tour the Montezuma Cortez 9 1 1 dispatch center and meet local police officers. You must be at least 18 years old to participate. Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation President will present an overview of traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans from five to 6:30 PM on Friday, October 10th at the Hospice of Montezuma. This free presentation is open to all but is intended for people ages 63 to 65 to help them decide between plans, navigate the enrollment process, and answer Medicare related questions. The Hospice of Montezuma also will offer a free seminar on coping with grief during the holiday season. It will be from one to 2:15 PM on Wednesday, October 15th at the Hospice of Montezuma. The seminar will assist individuals to cope with loss and provide tips and resources for those who support someone who is grieving. Attendees must call the Hospice of Montezuma. To reserve a spot.
