Hunters hoping to draw a big-game license are encouraged to get their application in early. There will be a chance for business owners in Montezuma County to learn about their fellow entrepreneurs at an upcoming networking breakfast, and a new bike park could be a part of some upcoming outdoor renovations in Dolores. You're watching the "Local News Roundup," brought to you by the LOR Foundation and Choice Building Supply Hardware. I'm Connor Shreve. Big-game hunting applications are now open in Colorado. The state Parks and Wildlife division period for hunters hoping to draw a big-game license runs from March 1st through April 4th, but Colorado Parks and Wildlife is urging those interested to get their applications in as early as possible, so that Parks and Wildlife officials can help navigate any problems that may arise along the way with as much time as possible. This year, resident licenses will run anywhere from $43 per adult to $346, depending on the species. To apply online, go to cpwshop.com. The Dolores and Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce have an upcoming network breakfast. The Montezuma County M-Power Breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 8th at the Mancos Opera House. It is open to the public, with coffee and breakfast burritos available to purchase from Fahrenheit Coffee Roasters. Anyone who donates a door prize will be given the chance to introduce their business to those in attendance. Philip Walters, the owner of the Mancos Opera House, will be the featured guest speaker beginning at nine a.m. Register online at visitdolores.com. A group of Dolores and Montezuma County residents are rallying local support for a new bike pump track and skate park in Dolores. The group says the proposed bike and skate parks will fill a gap in the town's safe spaces for youth, according to data collected from the Montezuma Inspire Coalition. It will also support the county's economic development goal of increasing the length of stay in our county to promote local businesses. The Dolores Bike and Skate Park Committee has started a GoFundMe campaign and attained 501 status, allowing donations to be tax-deductible. Cortez in Search of Artists for Historic Coloring Book

The City of Cortez is soliciting designs from artists as part of a celebration of Historic Preservation Month. The LOR Foundation and Cortez Retail Enhancement Association have partnered with the City of Cortez in designing a coloring book that highlights historic sites in the Cortez area with artist submissions due on February 20. Cortez Parks and Recreation is currently hiring several full- and part-time positions including events specialist, executive assistant, and lifeguard. City of Cortez Applies for Grant for Local Businesses

The City of Cortez is applying for the Community Business Preservation Program on behalf of Cortez’ local businesses. The program is designed to provide training, consultation support, and grants to help with one-time expenses for a few, select communities and businesses in Colorado. Cortez business owners are encouraged to express interest and apply by January 3rd. Absolute Bakery & Cafe in Mancos is changing ownership starting January 1st. The bakery will be closed for a couple of months for a remodel.
