Sidewalk Construction begins in downtown Mancos. The Dolores Public Library will host an event for gardeners and plant enthusiasts. The town of Mancos wants to know what residents foresee for the town's future. And combat local food insecurity this May by donating to the Dolores Public Library's Spring Food Drive. You're watching the Local News Roundup, brought to you by Keesee Motor Company and Hospice of Montezuma. I'm Ryan Simonovich. Sidewalk improvements begin Monday, May 5th in downtown Mancos. The town of Mancos partnered with the Colorado Department of Transportation to install 64 curb ramps and more than 1,000 feet of new sidewalks to meet American with Disabilities Act standards. Crews will also improve stormwater drainage systems and driveway ramp upgrades. Shoulders and sidewalks may be closed and lane shifts may occur in work zones, affecting travel time. The Dolores Public Library will host a Plant & Seed Swap from 10 AM to noon on Saturday, May 24th. The event offers a chance to connect with other gardeners, share tips, and exchange plants and seeds. For more free community events, visit the Dolores Public Library website. The town of Mancos invites residents and local businesses to participate in its Annual Community Vision Survey. Launched in 2021, the survey helps town officials decide which improvements to make on town services each year. The survey is available on the Town of Mancos website through June 15th. Locals can also pick up a paper copy of the survey at several locations around town. Paper surveys should be returned to the Mancos Town Hall during business hours. For more information and to see results from the 2024 survey, visit the Town of Mancos website. Drop off non-perishable food items at the Dolores Public Library in the month of May for the library's spring food drive conducted with the Dolores Family Project. The nonprofit strengthens the community by combating food insecurity. All donated items will support local families. The library is open for donations from 10 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, and 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday. Learn more about these and other stories online at montezumalocal.news.
