Be ready for possible flooding this spring as snow pack in the higher elevations melts. An event for livestock producers interested in learning about finishing livestock, meat quality, and the business of meat production. Cortez is calling on teachers and students to work with playground days this summer. Offering safe activities for children while their parents are at work. You're watching the Local News Roundup brought to you by Keesee Motors and FASTSIGNS. I'm Connor Shreve. Be prepared for flooding this spring. Flood information boards are set up in Dolores with information on water flow at Dolores and Ricoh. Emergency notification signup procedures, evacuation assistance, and more. Officials urge you to have a go-kit packed, prepare a family emergency plan checklist, and learn the best practices in the event of flooding. The boards are at Dolores Fire Station number one, Dolores Food Market, the post office, and library. River flow rates will be updated on weekday mornings, and as we get closer to possible flooding, watch for additional information. If the sheriff does issue evacuation orders, the assigned notification will change to go, and specific instructions will be given. Additional information is available on the county website at montezumacounty.org. An educational event for livestock producers is scheduled Thursday May 11th from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Pueblo Community College Southwest. Everything from business practices, to field work, to networking will be part of the event schedule. The Southwest Colorado Meat and Livestock Day will cover feeding and nutritional practices, navigating grant, loan, and certification programs, as well as marketing and business development strategies among other topics. A networking event will follow At Fenceline Cidery. Tickets are $15. Students, 4H, and FFA members get in free. For details, visit the CSU extension in Montezuma County. The City of Cortez needs more employees to ensure playground days can be a part of its summer programming. The city is hiring for playground days supervisors and counselors. Job description includes planning, coordinating, escorting, and protecting participants. Teachers and high school students would be perfect for this fun, interactive, and mostly outdoor summer job. For more information on this summer opportunity to get your foot in the door with the City of Cortez, contact Kaylee Uptaine with the city.
