The Dolores Public Library invites community members to craft, compete and enjoy holiday festivities. Join LB Productions for a cozy night of holiday cheer at its Christmas choir, concert, and community sing-along. And the community foundation. Serving Southwest Colorado seeks La Plata and San Juan County applicants for its meaningful opportunity through learning and advancement scholarship. You are watching the local news Roundup, brought to you by Big O Tires and Blondie's Trophy room. I am Sadie Smith. The Dolores Public Library will host inclusive holiday themed community events this December. The library invites all community members to enjoy treats and w redecorating at its library for all holiday party from five to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 12th, the Meet Mrs. Claus. On Saturday, December 20th, the library will have arts and crafts, cookie decorating, and a sensory play area available between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. The event is planned for individuals with disabilities, but all are welcome. On Tuesday, December 16th, teenagers can partner up or build solo at the teen gingerbread house making competition. The library will provide all gingerbread house making materials along with pizza, drinks, and snacks. Community members can view the houses and vote for their favorites from Thursday to Saturday, December 18th, 20th. For more events and information, visit the Dolores Public Library website. LB Productions Christmas Choir will perform at 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 20th at the Sunflower Theater. The concert will include special guests, gingerbread and was and a community Christmas sing-along. Tickets cost $12 and are available on the Sunflower Theater website. The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado opened scholarship applications for first generation students in La Plata and San Juan County. The meaningful opportunity through Learning and Advancement Scholarship or mlis will be open through Sunday, March 1st with the winners announced in early April. Applicants must be first generation and rising first year college or trade school students enrolled in a Colorado institution for fall 2026. Non-traditional students also are encouraged to apply. The scholarships are need based, and can be renewed for up to four years. Visit the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado website for application details.
