The Cortez Police Department Citizen Academy begins Tuesday September 19th, but spots are limited so register now. The Citizens Academy is comprised of two and a half hour sessions once per week for six weeks. Police officers will teach topics like evidence collection, investigation, and dispatch, among others. Each class ends with a reality-based training scenario where participants can put the principles they've learned into action. The class does offer an opportunity to understand the thought process and decision making that's required of our local police officers. For more information you can visit the Cortez Police Department's Facebook page or to register, go to The Dolores Family Project needs food donations to help fill backpacks for the 2023-24 school year.
