Manus Day returns with community focused festivities. The Rotary Club of Dolores seeks race registrations for the boggy draw beat down bike race. Fire restrictions are in effect in Montezuma County, and $50,000 has been granted to local youth serving nonprofits. Manka days are back Friday, July 25th through July 27th with community celebrations, tournaments, music, and more. This year's theme is Little Town Big Top Festivities. Begin with the Children's Parade at 10:00 AM Friday and end on Sunday morning with the annual Softball Tournament Church and Mankas Cattleman's Ranch Rodeo Events will be at Boyle Park and around downtown Mankas. The Rotary Club of Dolores seeks cyclists for its annual boggy Draw Beat Down bike Race Saturday, August 3rd. Races vary in length and difficulty ranging from a family friendly three mile bike ride along the Dolores River Trail to the 60 Mile Beat Down race. This year, the Rotary Club added camping, a bike rodeo, and an ice cream meeting contest on Friday, August 1st at Joe Rowell Park during packet pickup. Participants are welcome to camp at the park for $25 per tent or 45 per rv. For registration details, visit the Boggy Draw Beat Down website. Stage one fire restrictions went into effect on July 1st in Mesa Verde National Park and Yucca House National Monument. The National Park Service prohibits open fire of any kind, excluding campfires and charcoal fires in designated areas like park approved fire pits and grills. Petroleum and liquified petroleum gas products are allowed. Smoking is prohibited except in enclosed vehicles and paved areas away from plant life. With cigarette butts disposed of in ash trays, all fireworks and pyrotechnic devices are prohibited. You can visit the National Park Service website for fire restriction and violation details. The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado granted $50,000 to local nonprofits serving the youth for its 25th anniversary. The Community Foundation is raising $25,000 per quarter grants during the first quarter. Were focused on nonprofits that fill basic human needs. This quarter's donation go toward nonprofits that support middle and high school students through enrichment opportunities and mental health services. Through a one-to-one matching donation, the Community Foundation was able to exceed their goal and donate to 11 nonprofits.
