Durango author Christina Erteszek, whose memoir about her Polish family's journey from their narrow escape from Nazi Germany's invasion of Krakow, to their rise as founders of the wildly successful Olga undergarments empire will be the keynote speaker at the 3rd annual Professional Women's Summit on October 28th in Farmington. You're watching the Local News Network, brought to you by the ACE Hardware stores in the Four Corners. I'm Wendy Graham Settle. Overcoming adversity will be the theme of the Women's Summit scheduled for 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Thursday, October 28th, at the Farmington Civic Center. Produced by the Farmington Chamber of Commerce, The Summit is open to professional women and men from throughout the Four Corners. Keynote speaker Christina Erteszek is author of "The First Lady of Undergarments", a memoir about her family's journey from Poland as refugees from World War II, to the successful company they built. Erteszek also weaves in her own story as a rebellious child of the '60s and '70s, to her work as a special education teacher, to her success at launching her own label of garments called Olga by Christina. Other speakers include leaders in business and local government in the area. Farmington Chamber Director Jamie Church says the day will offer both inspiration and practical advice on leadership, business management and entrepreneurship.

We need to sometimes take that step back away from our workplace and give a day to ourselves to not only listen to these speakers, but also have the opportunity to network with all of these other amazing women in the room, and maybe even find a mentor, somebody that you really do align with and maybe build that mentorship environment. That is how a lot of business gets done. And that's how we build a lot of these personal relationships that help us in the business world. And so we're going to talk a lot about that. We're also going to have some mantras on leadership, what does it mean to be a leader, how do you develop in your role as a leader, but not everybody is coming to this thinking I'm going to become a leader. We also want people to come away knowing, wow, I have had an idea, I want to progress in my chosen field, I maybe want to become an entrepreneur, and now I have the people and the pieces that I need to help me succeed in that. So I think we're going to have a lot of great takeaways.

Tickets are $60 and include breakfast, lunch, and an after-summit cocktail hour. All speakers will be streamed live for a virtual ticket of $30. To register and to learn more about the speakers, visit professionalwomens-summit.com.
